Until now only iron and silver had weapons, and silver ones hit like iron. Now every metal that comes out of the mines has its own: iron's 25 (swords, axes, maces, spears and pole arms), forged from the same number of that metal's ingots and in its colour.
Rarer, stronger
They follow the order of their armour: from gold and copper, a little stronger than iron, to elfic, the rarest of all. The rarer the metal, the harder they hit, the longer they last and the more Blacksmithing they ask: from 60 for gold and copper to 100 for AngelSkin, DemonSkin and Elfic. An iron katana does 4 to 20 damage; an Elfic one, 7 to 35.
Special blows
The rarest metals also do something now and then when they strike:
- EvilSpirit gives you back half the blow as life.
- Mystic takes mana from the foe and gives it to you.
- Scorpion poisons.
- EarthSpirit drains the foe's stamina.
- Moon strikes a harder blow of cold.
- AngelSkin cures your poison and heals part of your life.
- DemonSkin bursts into fire.
- Elfic brings down lightning.
- Titanium has no special blow, but lasts twice as long and weighs half.
More veins of rare metals
The strongest metals hardly ever turned up in the mines: one elfic vein in a thousand. Now they turn up far more often. Of every new vein:
- Mytheril and Black Rock: one in 41 each.
- Scorpion, EvilSpirit, EarthSpirit and Mystic: one in 49 each.
- Moon, Titanium, DemonSkin and AngelSkin: one in 74 each.
- Elfic: one in 118.
The rarest still ask for their Mining before they turn up: from 90 for scorpion to 98 for elfic. Veins already open keep their ore.
Where they are forged
In the smith's hammer menu, under Metal Weapons, which only shows the metals whose ingots you carry. Silver weapons stay in their own menu, Silver Weapons, and move up to their place in the table: between copper and blood rock, as their armour stands. The blacksmithing guide has the table of every metal.
